Study process coordinator: Anna
Anna graduated from the Stockholm School of Economics. For more than 10 years, she has been working as a translator. She is fluent in 3 languages and understands 3 more. Besides being a translator, Anna continuously works on various business consultancy projects; she also executed several independent projects in the fields of sports, culture, and design. At the "Pros and Cons" language school, she is in charge of organising the learning process, as well as of overlooking various management matters.
English language teacher: Olga
Olga received a Master’s degree in the English Language and Literature from the University of Latvia. In 1993, she moved to the USA.
Olga: “I moved to the States because I was, well, in love with English and American literature. Since 1998, I held a position of an adjunct English professor at Bentley University, a prestigious business school just outside Boston. I also taught Writing Composition to American undergraduate students at Northeastern University and worked as an editor of educational books at several Boston-area publishing houses. I now reside in Riga and teach at local language schools, provide private tutorials and work as a translator.
I love teaching and have had so many wonderful students over the past 20 years. A lot of them keep in touch and that makes me very proud. Of course, I wasn’t always confident in my teaching abilities. In fact, I was quite scared when I started teaching for real and entered my first class of international students at Bentley University. However, with the support from my colleagues and students I soon really started to enjoy what I did. Everything else came from experience. In my opinion, a good teacher is also a motivational speaker, a psychologist, and a bit of an entertainer with a knack for improvisation. Another great aspect of teaching is that together with your students you never stop learning, discovering and creating new things.
I enjoy working with students individually and in small groups. I always try to define and develop individual strengths of each student. I believe that learning a language is a serious business and that grammar, vocabulary and correct pronunciation are important. However, I also encourage my students to practice what they learn and to just have fun with it.”
